Things Weren't Looking So Good Last Night

So, you know how I said I was so excited to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last night? Well, I haven't even been able to see the whole movie yet. Here's the story...

So, first, I don't have a job. My husband wants me to stay at home and just do school and stuff while he works. He spoils me...he really does. He is just so good to me! He only wants me to work if we really need me to. He is so wonderful! So, because I don't have a job, I have no money unless I ask my husband for money. Usually, that's no problem, but he wanted to buy the DVD for me as a birthday or Christmas gift and just give it to me last night. Well, I know that every place that sells the DVD on the first day it comes out usually has some neat little extra feature or something that you can get for buying the DVD there which you can only get at the one place. So, after I had lunch with my wonderful husband, I went to look at Target, Walmart, and BestBuy to see what they each had and tell my husband which I really wanted (He had school yesterday so he wouldn't be able to buy it until later in the evening).

So I went to Target first. They had the 2-disc special edition in their deluxe edition and it came in an awesome acrylic collector's box. I loved it! I pretty much knew right then that was the one I wanted, but I knew to keep looking just in case. So I went to Walmart. They had the DVD with just the movie in a box with a neat copy of the Marauder's Map. I thought this was really cool, but it didn't come with the special features disc which I really wanted, especially since that disc has a first look at the last two movies: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (which, by the way, is my favorite book ever!) So, on to Best Buy. They had the 2-disc edition in a really neat collector's case that looked like a Death Eater's mask. Really cool, but I could do without the mask of one of the bad guys that I really don't like. I really wanted that one at Target, but I had to wait for later that night when my husband got home.

Finally, at 6:14 my husband called and said he was on the way home to pick me up for dinner. We went to Taco Bell and enjoyed dinner together. Then off to Target to get the awesome DVD! I was super excited! We got to Target; it was all rainy and cold, so my wonderful husband surprised me by droping me off at the front door (I was so thankful!) We met in the store and walked to the back in anticipation...........

The Deluxe collector's edition was SOLD OUT!!!!!! AHH!!! A guy working back there said the MIGHT get some back in on Friday. I was so let down! :( So we decided to check back on Friday. But we still really wanted to see the movie.

So, we came up with a plan. We WOULD check back on Friday. Until then, we would go to Walmart and get the copy of just the movie that came with the Marauder's Map. Then we would watch the movie and give the DVD to my brother; he would like to have it. I would get to keep the cool Maurader's Map. Things were looking up at this point. We bought the DVD, got in the car, and started to head home.

We had just turned out of the Walmart parking lot when I decided to open the box up. I felt the end and realized that seal was broken...uh oh! I was hoping it was an accident that it was opened. So I checked inside the box, trying to hold my fear at bay...but my fear was realized when I opened the box and there was NO Marauder's Map. Someone had broken into the box and stolen just the Marauder's Map! This made me mad! Not at Walmart (it wasn't their fault for sure) but at the person low enough to steal something like that! It just goes to show the depravity of human nature, which makes me sad.

So, we turned around and went to customer service. I won't even start on the fact that the lady working customer service was more interested in talking to the other girl on break sitting on a bench that she was about her job and the actually customers. We soon solved the issue of the stolen map by getting a new DVD box.

We headed back home. All seemed well. Down side was we just didn't have enough time at this point to watch the whole movie. My husband didn't want me to watch any of it without him, which I totally don't mind watching it for the first time with him. But he had to go to bed less than an hour after we started watching it because he had to get up at 5am for clinicals.

So this morning we watched maybe another 15 minutes of the movie...but we are still waiting to finish it tonight. Hopefully we will be able to.

It has been an adventure, but good side is that I got the Marauder's Map and my husband bought me a Harry Potter t-shirt and is going to wrap it for Christmas or Birthday for me (my birthday is 5 days before Christmas, by the way. And I collect Harry Potter things, also).
